100 Days of Productivity

Inspired by Anke Weckmann I have decided to participate in her '100 days of productivity' challenge. I decided to join in with this as I have recently fallen into some bad working routines, as I work from a home studio I can sometimes get up and start work straight from the word go and then find myself still in my pyjamas at 1pm and have yet to move, or if I'm not really busy with client work I might pop on the television while I have my breakfast and before I know it I've binged 3 episodes of something on Netflix.
So I'm taking some actions for myself, I want to add some more movement and exercise into my days so I'm not sitting as much, I want to work on personal projects instead of ditching them as soon as client work comes in and also manage a little household chore each day so when the weekend comes around I don't feel like I have a mountain of housework to do. Day one has been marked off already, here's to the next 99, imagine what I can acheive.

The Xocolate Bar

I was originally asked to design some patterns for the new packaging of these chocolate bars but the project developed and I ended up working across all of the branding and packaging as well. I designed the new logo and also the packaging for the OMG bar and the chocolate barks. The company is based in Berkeley California so if you are ever out that way you should seriously try them, their chocolate is delicious. You can find out more about them here

Flowering Cacti Illustrations

I really love cacti, especially varieties that flower as there is always something quite beautiful about the hard spikes and shapes of the cactus compared to the soft and delicate flower. These were just a couple of quick sketches but maybe I will work into some ideas and create a pattern from them.

Laughing old man illustration

I saw a photo of this guy and just knew I had to draw his face as it is so expressional and happy. I drew this fairly quickly one Sunday and it hasn't turned out exactly as I would of hoped, I think some of the proportions are a little out so I may have to have another go.

Batik Floral for Urban Outfitters

Garden Sketches

It was such a beautiful day yesterday that when I returned home from work the sun was still shining and it was one of those glorious warm summer evenings, I decided to get my sketchbook out and go into the garden. I took a felt tip and a fine liner and just did a load of quick sketches of flowers and leaves.

I sometimes love drawing like this, not using a pencil so you can't erase any marks made and enjoying the freedom.

None of the drawings are masterpieces but I enjoyed drawing 

every one.

Shirt Designs

I've been starting to put together a little Self Promotion mail out recently, I've been drawing garments and including some of the patterns i've designed for companies such as ASOS and Topman etc. Here's a small example of a few of them.

Chocolate Packaging

I've been working on a fun job recently designing packaging for Chocolate Bars, yep that's right, chocolate, great job or what. I've just shared with you a little preview of some initial ideas for the patterns to go on the packaging. I'm looking forward to share the packaging when finished as I think they will look great.

I've had a little free time lately so have made a little repeat of some moths, I borrowed a book form the library all about Insects and there were some great photos in there to use as reference. I should start drawing more bugs I think.

I've been working on some new pattern designs recently, here's a snippet of one that is coming along quite nicely. 

Portraits

A couple of quill and ink drawings of some interesting faces, I saw a photo of the first man and knew I instantly had to draw him, such great character, while I was in a 'drawing faces' kind of mood I also decided to have a go at Sir Ian McKellen.

Girls Girls Girls

A few drawings of some girls and what they're wearing. I played around with the last image and dropped one of my patterns onto the girls shirt, not sure if I like this or not yet.

A couple of new patterns I drew yesterday, for no reason other than I felt like drawing which is always quite a nice way to work.
